Despite being busy with intense projects like 'I' that needs attention to detail, Shankar also makes sure he is updated with what’s happening around him in the industry. While he has eyes on promising upcoming projects like Kappal, which he has taken up, he also takes time to appreciate the works of various artistes.
The recent works that has inspired Shankar are Anirudh’s 'Pakkam Vandhu' from Kaththi and Santosh Narayanan’s 'Naan nee' and 'Chennai Vada Chennai' from Madras. Praising the works of the two young musicians, Shankar, in his Facebook page, posted,''Pakkam vandhu' song from Katthi is rocking! Listening every day... "Naan nee" & "Chennai vada chennai" from Madras too… Fresh and Breezy!”
